Paderborn University (UPB, http://www.upb.de) is a German university with about 20.000 students. Its motto “University of the Information Society” highlights its focus and is supported by its particularly strong department of computer science. UPB is represented in this proposal by the Computer Networks research group.

The Computer Networks group is involved in projects on wireless networking (e.g., industrial wireless communication and mobile backhaul optimisation) and future Internet (e.g., software-defined networking or network function virtualisation). The group obtains funding from European, German regional and federal, German Research Foundation (DFG), and industrial sources. Specifically, we worked on projects regarding SDN and NFV for mobile backhaul networks and data centers and work on a development approach – DevOps-based – for NFV.
